Florida Highway Patrol CBS affiliate WKMG reports that Angenette Marie Welk may face a DUI manslaughter charge after the accident in Marion County last week. According to the crash report, Welk was driving her 2011 Chevrolet Avalon when she rear-ended a Hyundai Elantra, sandwiching that car between Welk's sedan and a tractor-trailer. The driver of the Elantra, 18-year-old Shiyanne Kroll , suffered minor injuries, but her mother, 60-year-old Sandra Clarkson , who was in the car with her, suffered critical injuries and died some days later. 62-year-old man intentionally drives into a restaurant where his family was eating, killing his daughter and daughter-in-law Police authorities confirm that a 62-year-old man intentionally drove his vehicle into a North Carolina restaurant where his family was eating on Sunday, killing his daughter and his daughter-in-law and injuring several others. The killings occurred just after noon in Bessemer City, outside of Charlotte, after the family sat down to lunch at the Surf and Turf Lodge. Roger Self was charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Sunday night, according to jail records. He is being held at Gaston County Jail. He was scheduled to have a court appearance on Monday afternoon. One of those killed in the crash was his daughter Katelyn Self. She was a deputy at the Gaston County jail and had worked at the Gaston County Sheriff's Office for four years, the office said. She was off duty at the time of the incident.  "Our hea

Police tighten security at APC congress venue in Gombe May 19, 2018 The Gombe Police Command on Saturday deployed no fewer than 500 policemen to the venue of the APC State Congress to ensure the safety of lives and property. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gombe International Hotel, venue of the exercise, had been cordoned off, with security men allowing only those invited. Vehicles were not allowed into the hotel premises, just as those on foot were thoroughly searched. Speaking to newsmen on the security arrangement, David Junwan, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations who disclosed the number of personnel deployed to the venue, said the command did not want to take chances. Junwan said apart from the 500 policemen from the command, there were other security men who came from other places in the company of dignitaries.

Lagos Police arrests man who allegedly raped his wife’s 15-year-old sister The Lagos State police command has arrested an agent at a diagnostic centre along Gbagada-Oshodi Road, Ademola Ojomu, for allegedly raping the younger sister of his wife. The man allegedly started raping the sister in-law about two years ago when the girl now 15 was 13. It was gathered that Ojomu would allegedly threaten that he would stop paying her school fees if she told a third party. The incident was consequently brought to the attention of a child rights group in the community Child Protection Network which reported it at the Onipanu police station after the SS1 student confided in one of her school teachers. The coordinator of the group, Toyin Okanlawon, said the girl had been taken to a shelter in Lagos while the suspect was transferred to the gender unit of the state police command in Ikeja.
