Newcastle United are considering making a loan move for Jack Wilshere.
According to reports from The Sunday People (printed edition; press reader), Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is mulling over a loan move for Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The 25-year-old has one year left on his contract, and Arsenal are willing to let him go, either permanently or on a loan deal.
The Telegraph reported last month that Gunners value him at around £20 million. However, with no clubs willing to pay that amount, a loan move looks more likely.
Jack Wilshere of AFC Bournemouth goes down injured during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and AFC Bournemouth at White Hart Lane on April 15, 2017 in London, England.
Wilshere spent the last season on loan at Bournemouth, and has recently returned to full fitness after recovering from a broken leg.
Benitez has made six signings already, but the Spaniard is looking to add more players before the transfer window closes.
Bolstering the central midfield is one of his top priorities and Wilshere could be the man to do the job for him.
The 34-cap England international would be seen as a high-profile signing for Newcastle, but his injury issues are a big concern.
Wilshere earns around £90k-a-week in wages, and therefore his signing will be a gamble. However, if Wilshere can stay fit, he could turn out to be a brilliant signing for the Magpies.
