Board clarifies position on verification of military pensioners

The Military Pension Board on Tuesday said contrary to the information available in the public space, it is not carrying out any verification exercise now.
The position of the Board was contained in a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Ikenna Ezendu.
The statement said: “The attention of Military Pension Board (MPB) has been drawn to numerous false online information circulating among its pensioners as regards to Military Pension Verification Exercise. The unauthorised information are being circulated by some unscrupulous people to mislead pensioners. MPB hereby disassociate itself from such deceptive online information.
“The Board wishes to state categorically that it has no plans for now to conduct any verification exercise anywhere in the country. The Board in collaboration with Ministry of Defence will notify its esteemed pensioners and stakeholders when it concludes arrangement to conduct any verification exercise.
“Consequently, Military Pensioners and other stakeholders are advised to disregard any fake information circulating on the social media and other communication channels.”
