Veteran striker Samuel Eto’o speaks out on rescuing Cameroonian slaves out of Libya

Veteran Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o has denied claims he paid for an entire aeroplane to transport slaves out of Libya.
Recent reports indicated that Eto’o, who is one of the most successful African footballers in history, flew his compatriots to the safety of their homeland.
However, the former Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Chelsea FC marksman has revealed there is no truth in those claims.
He wrote: “Several sites have circulated a rumour that I would have given money to every migrant returnee, in relation to a topical issue. This rumour is absolutely unfounded!
“I would, therefore, take advantage of this opportunity, dear brothers and sisters, to emphasise that love prevents more evils than money can solve.
“So let’s not waste our precious time looking for thrills at the expense of grieving people, but let us use this time to prevent other brothers from being deprived of their dignity.
“Let us not just react when we can prevent, because among these victims are certainly people who have been our neighbours at some point, but to whom we have not daigné to look kindly.
“Let us build our Africa by having a positive impact on each other.”
Eto’o, 36, is currently on the books of Turkish Super Lig club Antalyaspor.

Lagos Police arrests man who allegedly raped his wife’s 15-year-old sister The Lagos State police command has arrested an agent at a diagnostic centre along Gbagada-Oshodi Road, Ademola Ojomu, for allegedly raping the younger sister of his wife. The man allegedly started raping the sister in-law about two years ago when the girl now 15 was 13. It was gathered that Ojomu would allegedly threaten that he would stop paying her school fees if she told a third party. The incident was consequently brought to the attention of a child rights group in the community Child Protection Network which reported it at the Onipanu police station after the SS1 student confided in one of her school teachers. The coordinator of the group, Toyin Okanlawon, said the girl had been taken to a shelter in Lagos while the suspect was transferred to the gender unit of the state police command in Ikeja.
